Tucked away downstairs at The Velvet Crab is our private dining room and bar — an intimate space in the heart of Brighton for celebrations, dinners and gatherings of up to around 20 guests.
The room is exclusively yours for the occasion. There’s no standard function menu either. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll create the food around you, with wine and cocktail packages to complete the feast.

Birthdays. Anniversaries. Corporate dinners. Book launches. Art launches. Or simply an excellent excuse to gather your favourite people around a table.
Creativity is encouraged. Make the room your own, bring ideas and talk to us about entertainment too — we can help arrange performers and artists to make the evening something rather less ordinary.

Your menu is discussed and created for the event rather than picked from a standard package, with wine and cocktail packages available.
Keep it decadent
There’s no separate room-hire charge. We simply ask for a minimum food and drink spend of £30 per person. Ideally, give us around three weeks to help make it special.
We’re gourmands and natural entertainers at heart. Expect generous food, good drinks and the irreverent mix of Louisiana spirit, Brighton cool and a little hedonism that makes The Velvet Crab what it is.
